About Us
Halifax Seed Company Incorporated, Canada's oldest, continuously operating seed company, was established in 1866.
In its considerable history, Halifax Seed has evolved steadily. Now on Kane Street in Halifax, the company once occupied a waterfront location on the city's famous harbour. When the town was damaged by a massive explosion in 1917 (That man-made explosion, The Halifax Explosion, was rated the world's largest until Hiroshima), the company moved to Granville Street.
Halifax Seed operates two corporate retail outlets, one in Halifax, Nova Scotia and the other in Saint John, New Brunswick. Both offer quality gardening products as well as customer service and advice.
